Vision

We are building a life-long, active and supportive community of learners here.

Beliefs

Since the advent of information age, learning is no longer limited to the early years. We have to continue to improve ourselves in order to live a happy and fulfilling life. Learning is necessary both for work and for fun.

Learning should not be available only to those with resources. We aim to build an active and support community where participation is free, as in money. We also believe that information wants to be free, as in a bird. All the content of this website, hence will be in a sharable-alike, non-commercial creative license.

Learning is more than just reading. We understand the importance of information, however, we do not equate access to information as access to learning. We believe that learning is an on-going process, best experienced together with like-minded people. We encourage learners to invite their friends, or other online users, to form study groups and enjoy the process together. We also believe that doing is the best method to acquire a skill or a knowledge. We encourage learners to try out courses and share the experience.

An Example

There are lots of recipes. The availability of such information does not constitute enjoyable learning. At learn-with-us, we recommend you to form study groups, say 4 families and put together a budget. In the next 4 week-ends, these 4 families get together to cook and share wonderful evenings. In rotation, one family would prepare the entry, another the main course. The desert and wine are taken care of by the third and fourth families. This doing and evaluating learning experience is later reported back to learn-with-us and shared by many other families. That's what we call a learn-with-us community.

In this example, the recipes are information, or resources. Our learn-with-us community focus NOT on just providing resources, we encourage users to share the course (the chosen dishes in the 4 evenings and wine) as well as the experience. Other group may vary the course slightly and reports back.
